Two standing figures in draped garments occupy the center right, one looking outward with a hand near the other’s shoulder while the other gazes to the side. Around them on the sand lie several bodies in various poses, some partially covered, one foreground figure shown lying on his back with an arm extended. Scattered near the foreground are objects including a helmet and a sword. In the middle distance small groups of shrouded figures appear seated or bent over, and the horizon and waves are visible under a luminous patch in the sky.
