View of a façade of presumably a palace in Rome, photograph, page, Rome, c. 1850 - in or before 1860, photographer, paper, albumen print, height 98 mm x width 136 mm, façade (of house or building), A large multi-story stone building with a crenellated roofline and decorative corbels runs across the image, featuring rows of rectangular windows with simple frames and a series of arched ground-level openings with grilles. A taller square tower rises from the left portion of the building, with small windows and a plain cornice. Two enclosed horse-drawn carriages stand in front of the building on a cobbled street, each drawn by a team of horses. Architectural details include a small balcony with a doorway above it, a sculptural relief set into the facade, and various wall-mounted fixtures and shadows cast by the corbels. The photograph has a pale, slightly sepia tone.
