Brenan, c. 1889 - in or before 1899, printmaker, paper, Woodburytype, Woodburytypepie, height 98 mm x width 145 mm, inn, coffee-house, public house, street, A sepia-toned street scene shows a narrow road curving past thatched cottages with low, textured roofs and small multi-paned windows, flanked by hedges and stone walls. A simple two-wheeled cart is positioned on the road in the foreground, viewed from behind. On the left, a paved footpath runs beside a stone wall topped by trimmed bushes and leads toward a row of cottages partly covered in climbing plants. In the center, a fenced entrance opens to a cluster of cottages with a lamp post nearby and chimney stacks rising above the thatch. On the right, another thatched building presents a projecting bay window and timbered details, with bare trees visible behind the rooftops and additional houses set further back on a gentle rise. The sky appears pale and overcast.
