Architectural elements including a large rounded column and a balustrade form the background, and distant trees and a tower are visible through an opening. The figures display varied poses and gestures, with one man reading from a large book, an older bearded man standing behind the child, and a kneeling woman pointing toward the group while another figure leans toward her. Drapery, folds, and soft shading define the clothing and the stone platform on which the seated woman rests.
