The vine - Good shepherd etc.', cliché maker: Dujardin Frères (possibly), Paris, c. 1867 - in or before 1877, photographer, paper, photoaquatint, height 140 mm x width 215 mm, sarcophagus, Christ as Good Shepherd, decorating 'en relief', appliquéing, A rectangular stone slab with carved reliefs fills the image, the upper portion showing a row of standing figures clad in draped garments separated by decorative columns, some figures holding objects or gesturing, a central seated figure atop a small pedestal with a carved head beneath, and the lower portion densely packed with intertwined vines, animals, and many small human and hybrid figures in varied poses, all rendered in a monochrome, high-contrast engraving style on a light background.
