The left side features a classical façade with tall columns and a doorway where a group of standing figures gather near a rider on a horse. Numerous riders in military-style uniforms and plumed helmets or hats sit astride horses of varying shades, some dark and some light, with saddles and bridles visible. Flags and pennants hang and fly above the group, and a large draped banner extends from the building toward the sky. In the background there are masts and rigging suggesting a ship beyond the riders, and soft clouded sky occupies the upper portion of the image. The ground beneath the horses is shaded to show depth and movement, and decorative details appear on some riders’ coats and on a carriage-like structure at the far right.
