In the foreground and center there are scattered cannon barrels and round explosive shells, one emitting light or smoke. Near the center three uniformed figures stand together, two with tall plumed hats and one with a high brim, one of them holding a long stick or ramrod pointed outward. To the right and background there are faint silhouettes of additional figures emerging from mist or smoke, and the ground is strewn with fallen bodies and debris. The overall atmosphere is smoky and shadowed with textured shading across the sky and architecture.
