Ten Broek is depicted on one half as a member of a volunteer corps in uniform with a rifle, and on the other half as a preacher with a Bible in his hand. Beside him is a lance with a liberty cap. On the ground is an open Bible on the book of Nehemiah. On the sheet below the image are two four-line verses.
