Several people in period clothing are around the monument: a group of men working with long tools on the steps, one figure standing with a staff at the left, and two figures conversing at the right. Tall, slender trees form a row behind the monument, and birds appear in the sky above, which is filled with textured cloud patterns. The scene is rendered in fine engraved lines with a bordered margin around the image.
