On the left a windswept tree leans over the bank near low shrubs, and faint distant buildings and grazing animals appear on the far plain. Along the road several horse-drawn carriages travel in procession, one open carriage with a driver and a closed ornate coach with attendants, and riders on horseback accompany them. Groups of uniformed foot soldiers march in formation near the road, some with raised rifles. On the right there is a yellowish house partially obscured by clustered trees, with a few figures standing by its entrance and two mounted men passing in front. The sky is wide and pale with scattered soft clouds.
