Amsterdam: 1718-1721., Person, Adriaen van der Werff, An engraved oval portrait of a person with long curled hair and a ruffled collar, shown from the torso up and turned slightly to one side, wearing a draped garment with a decorative clasp and a sash; the oval is set within an ornate carved frame with scrolling leaf motifs, and below the portrait are artist tools including a palette, brushes, and a circular object, alongside a shield-like panel with patterned sections; the background behind the figure is densely hatched crosshatching and the whole image is rendered in fine black and white line work.
