Numbered lower left: 2 and 3., printmaker: Master of the Dice, after design by Michiel Coxie (I), c. 1530 - c. 1560, Master of the Dice, Michiel Coxie (I), printmaker, after design by, paper, engraving, intaglio printmaking technique, engraving with plate tone, height 199 mm x width 227 mm, A detailed black and white engraving shows a classical interior with a raised platform draped by heavy curtains and flanked by columns and architectural moldings; on the platform two seated figures wearing crowns face one another while a bearded crowned man reaches toward a standing figure to the right, and two other standing figures in flowing robes approach from the left with one looking toward the seated pair; the figures wear draped garments with visible folds and sandals, and the scene emphasizes lines and crosshatching to depict shadows and textures on the fabrics, the stone steps, tiled floor, and the curtain behind the central group.
