Toward the middle ground mounted soldiers and figures on foot cluster around each other, with a few men gesturing or holding flags and weapons. Buildings with pitched, thatched roofs line the street on the right side, and a small archway or doorway is visible among them. On the left side more soldiers and banners extend into the background, and a wooden signpost rises above a tent and carts. The overall atmosphere is crowded and tumultuous, with smoke or haze in the sky above the town.
