Small outbuildings with tiled roofs and a low fence stand beside the ruin, and trees and shrubbery appear at the edges of the scene. In the foreground three grazing cows occupy a grassy area, one standing apart and two nearer each other with one appearing to lie down. The sky above is filled with dense horizontal line shading suggesting clouded texture.
