Street musicians, print, printmaker: Richard de Saint-Non, after design by Rembrandt van Rijn, 1771, paper, aquatint, etching, hand coloring, aquatint and etching on blue paper, hand-colored in white, height 152 mm x width 122 mm, more than one musician with instrument, A dimly lit interior scene shows a group of figures clustered near an arched opening, rendered in dark tones with highlights. On the left, a seated figure holds an infant wrapped in cloth while a person beside them leans forward, both faces partially illuminated. In the center a young person wearing a cap leans down, holding a bowl or dish toward the seated pair. To the right a standing man with a tall fur hat and heavy cloak, his profile visible, looks toward the seated figures while another cloaked figure with a patterned garment bends slightly beside him. A small dog on a leash stands near the feet of the standing figures. Architectural details include a stone archway and masonry visible behind the group. The composition emphasizes contrast between shadowed areas and pale highlights on faces, clothing, and the infant.
