Under the shelter a seated figure wearing a hat leans forward with arms resting near the knees, rendered with short parallel lines and darker shading. In the foreground there are textured piles of material or foliage suggested by swirling and layered lines. The background contains faint horizontal and slanted markings indicating distant forms and sky, and the whole image is framed by a narrow border of lighter paper.
