The figure on the left wears a draped head covering with long hanging folds and has a pronounced hooked nose, a visible eye with a slightly arched brow, a smiling mouth with defined teeth, and a high cheekbone; shading is created with closely spaced parallel and cross-hatched lines. The figure on the right has a broad, bulbous skull shape with rounded masses at the back of the head, a downturned mouth, a sagging lower face and neck with visible folds, a deep-set eye beneath a heavy brow, and extensive hatching to indicate shadow and form. The background behind and between the figures is filled with diagonal hatched lines, and the overall palette is monochrome with delicate stippling and varied line density.
