Below the flying scene, a band of trees with dense foliage separates the aerial action from a group of standing human figures dressed in flowing garments, some holding a small swaddled figure, gathered around a central scene; to the right of this group a figure stands at a lectern or raised surface with a turned head. The lower left corner shows a chaotic jumble of bodies, fallen figures, and contorted forms scattered across the ground, with more dark winged creatures intermingled, and small cherubic figures appear flying nearer the middle band. The whole composition is framed by a narrow border and mounted on a pale background.
