Mont des Oliviers, View of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, photograph, number: '292', photographer: Félix Bonfils, Jerusalem, 1867 - 1900, pasteboard, paper, albumen print, height 237 mm x width 299 mm, (high) hill, Mount of Olives, A sepia-toned landscape showing rolling hills dotted with scattered trees and low vegetation, with winding dirt roads and stone walls traversing the terrain. On one hillside there is a complex of buildings including a multi-story structure with arched windows and a domed roof section, and nearby smaller stone buildings and ruins. Tall slender cypress trees and other clustered trees appear near a compound with arched openings and terraces. The foreground shows more irregular stone walls, paths, and scattered trees leading toward the middle ground where a tower-like ruin stands beside a track. In the distant ridge there are more trees and a few isolated structures silhouetted against the sky.
