Numerous people are on the steps and around the building, some standing in groups and others walking, while horse-drawn carriages and a large enclosed omnibus occupy the street in front. A fenced plaza with trees and lamp posts sits adjacent to the building, a small kiosk or pavilion near the curb, and clusters of pedestrians and street vendors move about the paved area. The photograph has a sepia tone and shows soft shadows cast by the sun across the open square and on the façade of the building.
