He has long dark hair pulled back into a low tied style with a loose strand visible, a prominent mustache, and a weathered face with deep lines. He wears a thick, light-colored blanket or coat draped over his shoulders and a beaded necklace at the collar. In the profile image he has a small hoop earring in his visible ear and his hair is gathered into a knot at the back with loose wisps extending outward. The portraits have a soft, slightly faded tonal quality and the oval frames show a subtle uneven vignette around each image.
