Craigmillar, View of Craigmillar Castle, photograph, page, number: 'Pl. 2.', photographer: Vincent Brooks, Day & Son, Edinburgh, c. 1864 - in or before 1874, paper, albumen print, height 77 mm x width 119 mm, castle, Craigmillar Castle, A faded sepia-toned photograph shows an old stone wall running horizontally across a grassy foreground, with a low stone pillar interrupting the wall near the center. Behind the wall, there are dense trees and foliage partially obscuring the outline of a ruined stone building with crenellated walls and angled rooflines. A large, rounded tree stands to the right of the building, and additional trees and vegetation frame the left side. The sky above is pale and mostly empty, and the image has a worn, aged appearance with uneven toning.
