Fresco of God Blessing the World by Raphael, from the chapel of a villa in La Magliana, Rome, photograph, page, c. 1868 - in or before 1873, photographer, paper, albumen print, height 127 mm x width 168 mm, Photo opposite title page., picture, painting, God the Father represented as a human being, usually with crown or tiara or scepter and, or globe, A faded sepia-toned drawing shows a domed semicircular composition with figures among clouds. In the central area an older bearded male figure stands with flowing robes and an arm raised, flanked by two female figures in draped garments who hold floral elements and extend arms outward. Several small cherubic heads with wings appear around the central figures, integrated into the ornamental arch above them. The arch contains decorative oval motifs and patterned bands. Voluminous clouds fill the lower portion of the dome, resting on an architectural cornice that curves across the composition. The paper shows signs of age with slight stains and small specks scattered across the surface.
