Eleven Egyptian vases, photograph, page, number: 'XIX', c. 1890 - c. 1895, photographer, paper, gelatin silver print, developing gelatin silver print, height 208 mm x width 155 mm, containers, A centered photograph mounted on a pale sheet shows a display of ceramic vessels arranged on shelves draped with fabric; the top shelf holds a variety of tall urns and amphorae with rounded bodies, flared rims, narrow necks, and pedestal bases in muted tones and worn surfaces, including a large bulbous vessel, a tall slender vase with a wide flaring neck, and a conical-necked jar, while the lower shelf shows smaller pots and jars of different shapes including globular and cylindrical forms, one with spiral decorative motifs and another with vertical leaf-like patterns, several supported on small metal stands; the overall image has a soft, slightly faded monochrome appearance and visible texture and wear on the ceramics and paper.
