Annan & Sons, Glasgow, c. 1886 - in or before 1891, photographer, paper, photoaquatint, height 194 mm x width 142 mm, Print on twelfth unnumbered page after page xxxiii., gate, entrance, university (building, education, tuition), A stone entrance with ornate carved arches frames a pair of tall wooden doors, one of which is slightly ajar, each door panel featuring a grid of raised square designs; above the doorway a pointed arch contains layered concentric molding and a circular window with petal-shaped panes, flanked by decorative stonework and slender columns with carved capitals; a horizontal stone balustrade with circular floral motifs sits above a projecting cornice supported by corbels, and round recessed panels appear on the wall on either side of the arch; steps lead up to the entrance and the surrounding facade is composed of smooth ashlar masonry.
