Surrounding the monument are multi-story classical buildings with rows of windows and decorative facades. A stone balustrade and steps lead down from the foreground toward the base of the column, and a street lamp is visible near the pedestal. The image has an overall aged, sepia-toned appearance with scattered foxing and faint spots across the surface.
