The lower level shows three large arched doorways with decorative metalwork gates and flanking niches containing full-length statues. A sculpted railing runs along the terrace above a broad flight of shallow steps. A seated man in dark jacket and light trousers is positioned on the steps near the center. Flanking wings of colonnaded architecture extend to the left and right edges of the image, and a tall brick wall with a single arched window rises behind the balustrade. The foreground is a paved stone plaza.
