Man sleeping on a couch, sketchbook page, A man is sleeping on a wooden couch (enda) inside the house or under a canopy. On the right, his head rests on two pillows. On his head, he wears a cap or a headscarf tied around his neck. His upper body is uncovered. Like a sheet, he has pulled the loose, wide loincloth (veshti, lungi) over his lower body and his drawn-up knees. The man is probably a laborer from South India and employed in Colombo. A cloth has been pulled over the rattan or rope covering and the protruding legs, making it look like a mattress. A sheet lies on top of it.
