This print is part of a book., printmaker: Jost Amman, after design by Wenzel Jamnitzer, Nuremberg, 1568, Bavaria, paper, etching, height 261 mm x width 178 mm, Two tall cone-shaped structures stand on a flat surface against a plain background; the left cone is composed of a spiraling ribbon-like band with angular segmented facets and crosshatched shading, ending in a bulbous pointed top, while the right cone displays a lattice pattern of interlocking geometric panels with visible depth and shadow, also tapering to a sharp point; both structures cast subtle shadows onto the base and the composition is rendered in fine line work on a light, slightly speckled paper.
