The upper scene features a densely built town along a shoreline with tall church spires, windmills, rows of houses, trees framing the foreground, and sailing vessels of various sizes at anchor and under sail. The lower scene presents cultivated fields and tree-lined paths leading toward another town along the coast, with a prominent church with a steeple on a hill, rows of houses near the water, and ships dotting the bay beyond a tree-covered foreground. The overall image is monochrome with fine line engraving details, textured skies, and decorative cartouches separating the two views.
