Sketch of garments (female figure VII), drawing for Zwierciadlo Venery; draughtsman: Feliks Stanislaw Jasinski (1862–1901); original painter: Edward Burne-Jones (1833–1898). Auxiliary preparatory drawing for an engraving, provided with the artist's notes. The work documents Jasinski’s reproductive process: making drawings from a photograph onto a celluloid plate, printing them on varnish over a copper plate and etching; drawings and tracings with notes and color descriptions guided later stages (subsequent etchings and use of styluses, needles, etc.). Engraving work on the series began 1893; Jasinski worked on the principal engraving from November 1894 until its completion and stamping on July 29, 1896. Publisher: Tooth & Sons, London; engravings printed in Paris by Alfred Salmon and Adolphe Ardail; prints published on vellum in an edition of 400. Jasinski received a gold medal in Paris in 1900 for the series. Date: 1893–1896. Medium: drawing. Dimensions: height 22.7 cm, width 16.7 cm. French/Polish stylistic context.
