Denarius of Elagabalus (reigned 218–222 CE), Roman Empire, c. 220–222. Obverse: Bust of Elagabalus with laurel wreath and paludamentum facing right, pearl border, legend 'IMP ANTONINVS PIVS AVG.' Reverse: Elagabalus in a laurel wreath and long robe standing left, holding a patera above an altar in his right hand and a club in his left; a bull lies beside the altar; a star appears in the left field, pearl border, legend 'INVICTVS SACERDOS AVG.' Coin (Rome): diameter ~17–18 mm, weight 2.80 g.
