Denarius of Commodus (reigned 177–192). Obverse: Head of Commodus with a laurel wreath facing right, inscription L AEL AVREL COM - AVG P FEL. Reverse: Two standing figures—on the left, the personification of Africa (Alexandria) wearing an elephant scalp, holding a sistrum, with a lion at her feet, offering ears of corn to Hercules-Commodus on the right, who stands with one foot on the prow of a ship and rests his club on a rock; inscription PROVIDENTIAE - AVG. Date: 191–192. Roman Empire. Coin. Diameter 16.0–16.5 mm, weight 3.20 g, axis 15°.
