Denarius, Faustina the Younger (ca. 130–176; Roman empress 161–176), Marcus Aurelius (121–180; Roman emperor 161–180) issuer. Obverse: Bust of Faustina II in drapery facing right, legend FAVSTINA·AVGVSTA. Reverse: Salus seated on a throne facing left; in her outstretched right hand she holds a patera from which she feeds a snake wrapped around an altar, left hand resting on the back of the seat, legend SALVS. Iconography: Salus (personification), snakes, pateras, altars, personifications. Date: 161–176 CE, Roman Empire (27 BC–476), Rome. Coin type: denarius. Diameter 17.0 mm, weight 2.85 g, axis 180°.
