Denarius of Marcus Aurelius (121–180; Roman emperor 161–180). Obverse: Head of Marcus Aurelius with laurel wreath facing right; inscription M AN, ONINVS AVG - GERM SARM. Reverse: Pax standing left; in his right hand he holds a torch with which he ignites a pile of loot, in his left hand he holds a cornucopia; inscriptions RP XXXI IMP VIII COS III PP and AX AVG. Dated 176–177. Iconography: spoils of war, personifications (Pax), torches, cornucopias. Roman Empire (27 BC–476), Rome. Coin: diameter 16.0–18.5 mm, weight 3.55 g, axis 0°.
