Denarius, Marcus Aurelius (121–180; Roman emperor 161–180), issuer. Obverse: Head of Marcus Aurelius with laurel wreath facing right, inscription 'M ANTONINVS AV... TR P XXIII' circumferential. Reverse: Salus standing left; in her right hand she holds a patera above a snake coiled around an altar, in her left hand a scepter, inscription 'S VTI - AVG COS III' circumferential. Iconography: scepters, personifications, snakes, Salus, paterae, altars; Marcus Aurelius — iconography. Date: 168–170. Culture/place: Roman Empire (27 BC–476), Rome. Object type: coin (denarius). Measurements: diameter 17.5–19.5 mm, weight 3.30 g, axis 0 degrees.
