Denarius of Antoninus Pius (86–161; Roman emperor 138–161), struck 151–152, Rome. Obverse: head of the emperor in a laurel wreath facing right, legend IMP CAES T AEL HADR ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP. Reverse: Annona (personification) stands left holding ears of corn in her right hand and resting her left on a modius (grain-measure) standing on a ship, legend TR POT XV COS IIII. Iconography: Antoninus Pius; Annona; ears of corn; modius; ship. Coin, diameter ~17–18 mm, weight 3.17 g, axis 195°.
