Denarius of Antoninus Pius (86–161; Roman emperor 138–161). Obverse: head of Antoninus Pius with laurel wreath facing right, inscription 'ANTONINVS AVG PI - VS PP TR P XII' (circumferential). Reverse: emperor in toga standing left, holding a patera above a tripod in his right hand and a scroll in his left, inscription 'C OS - IIII' (circumferential). Iconography: emperor before an altar, paterae, tripod, scrolls. Date: 148–149. Roman Empire (27 BC–476), Rome. Coin: silver denarius; diameter 17.5–18.5 mm; weight 3.15 g; axis 180°.
