Sestertius; Antoninus Pius (86–161; Roman emperor 138–161), issuer. Obverse: head of Antoninus Pius in a laurel wreath to the right, inscription ANTONINVS AVG PIVS PP TR P XI. Reverse: Annona (personification) standing left, holding ears of corn above a modius in her right hand and an anchor in her left, inscription NNO NA with COS IIII in the section and S C in the fields. Iconography: Annona, ears of corn, anchors, personifications; Annona standing with ears of corn held above a modius. Date: 147–148. Culture/place: Roman Empire, Rome. Object: coin (sestertius).
