Denarius, Hadrian (76–138; Roman emperor 117–138). Obverse: Bust of Hadrian with laurel wreath facing right; rim inscription: IMPCAESARTRAIANHADRIANVSAVG. Reverse: Salus seated left, wearing a long robe; in her outstretched right hand she holds a patera from which she consecrates gifts on the lit altar in front of her, a snake entwined around the altar; her left hand rests on the back of a chair; rim inscription: PM TR P COS III; field inscription: SALVSAVG. Coin pierced to be worn on a chain. Date: 119–122. Rome, Roman Empire (27 BC–476). Medium: silver coin (denarius). Weight: 3.20 g.
