Denarius of Antoninus Pius (86–161; Roman emperor 138–161), c. 140–144. Silver coin. Obverse: Bust of Antoninus Pius in drapery and laurel wreath facing right, inscription 'ANTONINUS PIVS PP COS III'. Reverse: Virtus standing left, holding a spear with the head down in his right hand and a dagger (parazonium) in his left, inscription 'VRTVS AVG'. Diameter 17–18 mm, weight 2.70 g, axis 180°.
