Denarius of Trajan (53–117; Roman emperor 98–117). Obverse: head of Trajan facing right, laurel-wreathed; rim inscription 'IMP TRAIANO AVG GER DAC PM TR COS V PP'. Reverse: Pax standing left, partially draped to the waist in a long robe with draperies, holding a caduceus in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left, resting her right leg on the shoulders of a Dacian (only the Dacian's arms and head shown); rim inscription 'SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI'. Date: 103–111. Roman Empire (27 BC–476). Medium: coin (denarius). Weight: 3.05 g.
