Gdansk ducat, Lesse, Daniel (1656-1685). John II Casimir Vasa (King of Poland; reign 1648–1668). Obverse: crowned bust of the king, right profile, wearing the Order of the Golden Fleece on the chest, within a rope rim inscribed IOAN.CAS.DGREX. POL.& SUEC.MDLR. Reverse: coat of arms held by two lions, a wreath surrounding a flower at the top, cartouche at the bottom dividing the letters DL; in a corded rim inscribed MON:AUREA CIVITAT.GEDANENS.1656. 1656. Poland, Gdansk. Coin; weight 3.21 g., A circular coin with a worn metallic gold surface showing a raised profile of a person wearing an ornate crown and detailed clothing, surrounded by a raised rim and decorative border; the coin has areas of darker discoloration and tarnish in places, and the overall color palette includes gold, yellow, and small patches of dark brown and gray.
