Légende
Bracteate, Boleslaw III Wrymouth (Prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Romanesque, c. 1135–1138. Obverse: In a pearl border, on the left, facing right, a kneeling prince shown in profile with hands outstretched toward the bishop standing before him. Dressed in liturgical vestments, St. Adalbert (ca. 956–997) holds a crosier in his left hand while his right hand rests on the prince's head. Around the rim, in a linear border, is the inscription '+BLAV.' Material: coin; diameter 24.1–25.3 mm; weight 0.25 g. Subjects/iconography: crosier, kneeling prince, gesture of protection, martyrs, bishops, liturgical vestments. Location: Poland (Gniezno/Kraków).
