Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (Prince of Poland; 1107–1138). Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; between its arms, one ball (one of them has a dot). Allegorical depiction of knights, martyrs, dragons, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; Romanesque style; references to Adalbert (St.; ca. 956–997). Circa 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Coin (denarius). Diameter 12.7–13.2 mm; weight 0.52 g.
