Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1086–1138). Obverse: in beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls; one ball between its arms. Iconography: knights, chain mail, spearhead, dragons, fight against pagans, fight between good and evil; possible reference to St. Adalbert (ca. 956–997). Romanesque style. ca. 1125–1138, Kraków, Poland. Coin; diameter 11.8–12.1 mm; weight 0.43 g.
