Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (Prince of Poland; r. 1107–1138). Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two of them show one dot each; the others are unclear), a dot at the crossing of the arms, and one sun (dot) between the arms. Allegorical imagery of knights, dragons, fight of good against evil, Adalbert (Saint), martyrs, and fight against pagans. Romanesque style. Circa 1125–1138. Poland, Kraków. Silver coin; diameter 12.1 mm, weight 0.58 g.
