Denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; 1107–1138), ca. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Obverse: within a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; a sun under the knight's right elbow. Reverse: within a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot); a sphere at the intersection of the arms and additional spheres (three with dots) between the arms. Iconography: knight, dragon, fight between good and evil, fight against pagans; spears, spearhead (issue mark), equal-armed cross, crosses, chain mail, martyrs, Adalbert (Saint, ca. 956–997), Romanesque style. Coin; diameter 12.1–12.3 mm; weight 0.42 g.
