denarius, Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; c. 1086–1138), Romanesque style, c. 1125–1138, Poland, Kraków. Coin. Obverse: in beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; equal-armed cross, spears, knight, dragons, fight between good and evil, Adalbert (Saint), martyrs. Reverse: in triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with balls (two with one dot each), a dot at the crossing of the arms; between them, suns (three with one dot each; the fourth obscured by under-striking). Diameter 12.8–13.1 mm; weight 0.68 g. Makers/marks: spearhead (issue mark).
