Denarius of Boleslaw III Krzywousty (prince of Poland; c. 1086–1138), c. 1125–1138. Obverse: in a beaded border, a knight in chain mail thrusting a spearhead into the jaws of an upside-down dragon; at the knight's left foot, a figure resembling the number '7' with dotted vertices. Reverse: in a triple beaded border, an isosceles cross topped with spheres (one with a dot), a dot at the intersection of the arms, and between the arms one dot nearer the center and one sun nearer the ends. Romanesque style; iconography: knight, dragon, fight between good and evil, martyrs, St. Adalbert; coin (denarius), Poland, Kraków. Diameter 12.2–12.8 mm; weight 0.44 g.
